ELA 10: Oct 18 Reading Ch 3 / 4 of The Chrysalids…

  1. We answered and discussed the questions that were to be completed for class today. I continued reading aloud to the students as they followed in their books. I mentioned that when they begin reading aloud, I will be looking to hear that they concentrate on reading well, with the effective pauses, inflections, and questioning tone when necessary.
  2. Students then began to take turns reading a page each. They did a great job. We talked about the way your voice should rise up at the end of a sentence that ends with a question mark. It may seem like a simple task but we will work on becoming more effective readers as a result of this novel’s study.
  3. We completed reading chapter 3 and 4 and the questions for both chapters are due for Monday.
  4. Students were given a handout with a brief review for tomorrow’s exam. Hope you study.
