MdSt 20: June 7 Yearbook work period…

  1. Students in the media studies class are going to create this year’s yearbook for the school. The program is a new one and done entirely online. Every student has chosen which pages they are going to be responsible for and was to have prepared prior to today what was necessary to begin today.
  2. Because it is a new program, a lot of what today included was just working with the program and getting used to it’s quirks. The computers seemed somewhat slow but once students are familiar with it, they can access the site from home and do the same work much quicker.

Hist 30: June 7 Unit four notes / Frenchman writing…

  1. We began reading through more of the notes for unit four but my voice would not have lasted and they were too rambunctious so we traded and they got another class to work on the Frenchman writing assignment due tomorrow.
  2. Any late assignments have to be in tomorrow in order for them to be accepted. I will not receive anything after 3:20 tomorrow, including the Frenchman assignment.

ELA B10: June 7 Macbeth quiz and sc 7 questions…

1. Students wrote a short quiz on what they’ve read and watched so far with the play of Macbeth.
2. We read through the questions on Act III that they read together themselves. Students were given scene summaries with their handout package at the beginning of the play so after reading the play with their partner, they had the summaries to help make clear what had happened in each scene. (They were also reminded to use these prior to the quiz.)

Monday June 18 will be the deadline.
3. Tomorrow, students were asked to be ready to begin work on their yearbook pages.

Hist 30: June 6 French perspective writing assignment…

1. This is the assignment that was given yesterday that students didn’t get to work on because of Track. Today’s class was used so students to get a handle on their start. A few of us discussed several events in Canadian history that may have seemed small in significance but in the grand scheme of things, according to a French-speaking Canadian who has felt alienated by Canada’s policies for decades, it would only continue to strengthen their resolve to separate. Students did very well of getting into the mindset of the assignment and writing from a first-person perspective.
2. This assignment is due, typed, for Friday.

ELA B30: June 6 Reading Act II continues…

1. We began the class with students writing down some quotes that I had put on the board. I showed them how exactly to reference Shakespeare quotes (very much like poetry) and explained that they should be watching for lines as we read that say something striking about the Human Experience, or Human Existance, the theme of this unit. The quotes written on the board were examples of quotes they could consider using for their departmental.
2. We continued listening/reading along with the cd as Hamlet begins his “mad” acting to trap the King into some kind of confession.

ELA B10: Finish Machomer and study for quiz…

1. Students had very little reading to do to complete the script of Machomer. Once finished, we went to the projector room where students listened to some brief clips of the writer of the script performing it in the voices of the Simpsons.
2. Students then returned to the classroom and spent some time studying for tomorrow’s quiz or their chemistry.

MdSt 20: June 4 Written portion to unit exam…

  1. Students wrote the written portion of their unit exam. The questions were general and similar to any we have had in our classes. They were more analytical or reflective questions, as pointed out by Chelsea, and not just simple questions.
  2. Students not able to finish will be continuing during lunch tomorrow. There will be no class tomorrow as the grade elevens are running the canteen for the Elementary Track.
