ELA B30: April 2 Questions for “What Men Live By”…
- Students were given comprehension and analysis questions to answer with the story we read as a class on Friday. (Some students were not in attendance on Friday so they spent the class playing ‘catch up’.)
- One of the questions given requires students to post a paragraph response to the story on today’s English blog entry. The question to answer asked students to describe what men live by today in present society. This entry will be for marks.
-describe what men live by today?
Men today live by a differnt set of values them they did 100 years ago. They try to get rich because they fell that that is there best way to support there family. Some men live only for them selves always trinig to get ahead in life not afraid to step on someones back to get there. Others try to lead a respectable life and try to get ahead by working hard but the same thing is that everyone is trying to get ahead in life. Every man tries to leave a legacy for themselves and make sure people will remember them after they are gone. They also want there children to do better than they did no matter how succssesful they are they always want whats best for the kids. Everyman tries to do what is best for there family and if they don’t have a family they do whats best for them.

Most men live for their families. Family is the most important thing to men in today’s society. Most men feel that they have to make tons of money, because its the only way they can support their wife and kids. Other men get so caught up in their work that they totally forget about their family. This kind of man will do anything to get ahead, even if it makes his family sufferr because of it. All men want to be remembered for something, but most of all I think men just want their wife and kids to have clothing on their back, and to live a wonderful, care-free life. That is what men live by in todays society.
-Describe what men live by today in present society-
I believe that men today in present society live by is also supporting their families. Men are still as soft-hearted as they were before and want the best for their wives and children, although the enviroment today is a little different than it was back then. Men would work very hard to earn a couple dollars and a loaf of bread. Today, men will work for the rent or mortgage on their house, their payments on their vehicles and putting their children through school. There are some men who work very hard to earn as much money as they can and don’t have families and keep all their money for themselves. Men are still as soft-hearted now as they were before, they will do to others as they would like done to them, but like I said before, we live in a completely different enviroment, we work for more money, most people have families and are well off unlike back then people are poor and work for very little.
WHAT DO MEN LIVE BY TODAY IN PRESENT SOCIETY?
These days, men live by the values of family. Everything they do revolves around there family. They work to feed, educate and allow for a social aspect of life for each child and wife. Men teach there children what they have been taught. Men always want what is best for their entire family. They want safety and happiness, a good home with food on the table and clothes on their back. Most men, will do anything for their chrildren, they take time off work to watch sports or go on holidays. In today’s society, i beleive that men live for their family, they are always making sure they are happy and healthy.
The most dominant reason that men live is for the well-being of their family. Men strive to be able to take care of themselves and their families. If men were incapable of taking care of themselves and their families, they may be seen as weak invidividuals. Men feel a sense of pride when they can take care of the people that they love. They want to be able to provide food and shelter, as well as health and happiness. Men will often do what is in the best interest of their family. They want a good reputation and work hard at keeping it. Men are seen as the protectors in the world, and usually try to maintain their macho role. I believe that men protect, take pride in, and overall live for their families.
What men live by from the story by Leo Tolstoy. In society today men live by their values which is definatly their families. All men feel they need to go out and have a good job and work hard to support their familes. They want their kids to have alot of things and they want their wife to be happy. They feel that it is their responsibility to be the one who goes out and gets a job and works. Men want the reputation that they are good workers and they want to keep it that way. Men are supposed to be the ones who are brave and protect. Men believe that they don’t need anyone else to take care of them, and that they are the ones who need to be taking care of their families and every day life.
I believe that men live by alot of things but the main thing is supporting their families.
In society today men live by the value of their families. They feel they need to support their families no matter the circumstances. They want to make their family feel secure. Men go out and work hard, hoping to give their family everything they need. They want to make their wife and kids happy. If a man does not work, they feel ashamed and useless. Working hard and bringing in the money is what they feel is their responsibility, and if they do not do that they feel they are a failure. Men live for their families, hoping to give all the money and love in the world.
Men in present day society live by a code of conduct that is falling away from god’s law or even god himself. We still give to tohers and care for others but not in the name of God. Our society is still based on love of others but it is more because of respect and even this is diminishing. Society itself is crumbling at it’s basis because no one feels the need to give to anyone else but themsleves. People in present day live by love of others and respect of themselves and others.
What do men live by today in present society?
– It depends on the person. This is a big question that can cover a lot of area. I guess men live by rules. Some live by the bible and others do not. Many live more by the law and not by the bible. I guess man live by their morals and thier values. They want a good reputation and want themselves to look good.
Men in present day society live by many things. They live to work in jobs that they like that they find suitable to themselves. They also have many personal goals which they which to achieve in their life time. They also live to be able to have a good easy life with good wealth. Then again there are some who do not live by any standards. But most men in modern day society love to set goals for themselfs. So men in present day society will ife by their own personal code of conduct.
In a generalized statement, “man” needs something to be inspired by, something that pushes them to “go the extra mile”. There are many influences and experiences that men live from and grow from. If you think of a moral as a goal, or a set expectation of himself, that something pushes the person to do better, it is the something that a person strives for. Every man has goals that they set to keep themselves in line. If they set goals for themselves it is easier for them to achieve them, or easy for that person to get what they want out of life. A person needs to be able to know that they can or will be accepted if they believe in this or that, they strive for acceptance and sometimes it is easier for them to just follow everyone else’s morals or values than to express their own; guilty by association. Men today in society strive or live for the ability to love and be loved. Everywhere you go in the world people are looking for love, and looking for someone that will love them back. Compassion and respect are very important traights a human will look for in another human. It is just human nature.
It depends what part of society you are talking about what men live by becuase i believe the most upper part live by greed and will pay for not truely caring about others. but the lower side live on hope and love, they hope they can get through the day and love one another. Middle class live on hope and thankfulness, hope that they can help being who they are and not change. thankfulness that they are who they are in life and that they are not poor or too rich. it is not to different from the story what men live by becuase there comes a time when we all have to live on love and faith in god. we can not be greedy we can not feel sorry for our sleves we have to be happy we are who we are and that we are not scika dn dying but we are healthly enough and can still help ourselves.
