ELA B30: Feb 1 “Who are you?” What labels describe you?
What is your identity composed of? Consider what the following pictures are pointing out when considering a person’s perception of themselves?
- We began with a brainstorming activity trying to define for students what labels they identify as being descriptors of themselves.
- We then read aloud together an essay titled “Who Are You?” that questioned the impact of labels in influencing our personalities and ambitions in life.
- Students were asked to write a reflective paragraph (for themselves, not for marks) to consider the types of labels they would like to ‘earn’ in their future and how they could possibly go about doing that.
- Students were asked to read the next poem titled “The Enemy” and complete the first question along with it, which is to have the five stanzas paraphrased for tomorrow’s class.
