ELA A10: Dec 21

  1. Students were antsy today and understandably reluctant to want to work on anything new in English. (Frankly, so was their teacher! 😉 ) Often times, by the end of the class there are videos that apply to content that we haven’t the time to watch. The students will soon be reading a novel excerpt called “My Left Foot” about the true-life story of a man born with Cerebral Palsy who only has use of his left foot. Initially, his family thought he was mentally challenged as well as physically, but he eventually found ways of communicating to show his intelligence and creative talents that had been locked inside. Our unit right now is on Challenges. This movie is a good fit! And it kept the kids settled until the turkey was served!

Watch this portion of the video where Christy writes the word “Mother” for the first time.

Now for those of you who like The Family Guy, here’s Stewie’s rendition of My Left Foot. It’s comical… so why not add it here!
