ELA B30 Porphyria’s Lover poem performed…

These girls were not satisfied with their first performance of the play, so they prepared it again. (This time, Krysta wasn’t on pain-killers. lol) They did a super job. You can hear the thunder clapping in the background and watched for Nicole’s impressive “play dead” part. lol They did a great job.

ELA A30: Jan 20 Poetry by request…

A few comments were left on a blog post talking about the Al Purdy poetry and Shane Koyczan, a well-established Canadian slam poet. The Al Purdy poem is well produced and included Gordon Downie, the lead singer for The Tragically Hip who is also a published poet. The Shane poem is such a wonderful and absolutely fitting poem that connects all ideas intended by the A30 course on Canadian literature. The ultimate purpose is to realize the “choices” and great differences that exist in Canada, in the people and the land.  Poetry is meant to be performed, to be read, so it is a wonderful opportunity for us to hear it spoken from the writers themselves. I hope you enjoy these.   [kml_flashembed movie=”http://youtube.com/v/vPKeczB3wrg” width=”425″ height=”350″ wmode=”transparent” /]   [kml_flashembed movie=”http://youtube.com/v/zsq68qRexFc” width=”425″ height=”350″ wmode=”transparent” /]  If you open the youtube video, the lyrics for his poem are attached to the blog post from Thursday, but he speaks it fairly clearly so the words are not too blurred to catch. Can you imagine becoming so good at something that Canada’s Tourism industry requests and pays you to write a poem for them? I think he gave them their money’s worth! Maybe he’ll become more famous than… say K.D. Lang! lol  Enjoy!

Art 9: Jan 14 Drawing animation projects…

  1.  2008-02-14-003.jpgStudents gathered together in the library to use the tables and encylopedias as tools for starting their own drawing animation projects. Most students came with their cameras prepped and ready while others forgot. Those without cameras practiced either drawing on their page taped to the side of a table / wall or got creative with their drawing and practiced sketching.
  2. Others seemed to be very involved with their projects and were focused. I’m glad everyone’s enjoying this so much!

I also gave this project a shot and was really happy with my finished product after the hour-long class. See what you think?

ELA 10 Introduction toasts/speeches…

Videos from today’s speeches will be uploaded soon. You’ll want to see them!! [kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.youtube.com/v/EMb45MVh3iw” width=”425″ height=”350″ wmode=”transparent” /] The presentation started out all right. It was when Eric mentioned the two sisters, Fred and Daryl, “and a sister named Judith”. It certainly was laugh-worthy.  [kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.youtube.com/v/I-n0Dhzawjo” width=”425″ height=”350″ wmode=”transparent” /]His friends fill him in on why the laughter started.   [kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.youtube.com/v/ywH3P–FT_g” width=”425″ height=”350″ wmode=”transparent” /] My mistake… wrong phrasing. [kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.youtube.com/v/eIG5MO8YGcI” width=”425″ height=”350″ wmode=”transparent” /] Back on track!  [kml_flashembed movie=”http://www.youtube.com/v/PlIIthPphbI” width=”425″ height=”350″ wmode=”transparent” /]  He actually did quite well. They’re a work in progress, this bunch!
